The Toshiba BDX1100 is an entry-level Blu-ray player geared at consumers investing in their first-ever BD player. It offers full 1080p/24p high-definition video playback in addition to 1080p upscaling for lower-quality 720p DVDs. Included also is support for Deep Color, and for audio, the BDX1100 supports Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio decoding. Also included is BD-Live for downloading extra movie content from the Internet (standard 10/100 RJ-45), USB and SD/SDHC memory expansion options, and a REGZA-LINK (HDMI-CEC) universal remote control that works off two AAA batteries and allows the user to control any and all attached HDMI-CEC devices.

The Price Is Right - Too!

Our spare room DVD player finally had seen its last day. As we slowly start to build a collection of Blu Ray disks it only made sense to replace it with a Blu Ray player. Since our old player was a high end product "Cyberhome", wink, wink, I went on the search for a similar low cost unit. I had my reservations when I saw this BDX1100 unit for the price but the mfr. has usally demontrated quality and it certainly is a step above that of "Cyberhome". We decided to buy the unit and hooked it up via HDMI, of course. Wow! is all we could say. At first hook up the BDX1100 player prompts you through a few set-up questions and your set! Simple and easy. The picture was fantastic and the unit has worked better than my expectations. The remote isn't to bad either
